1. Snort Overview

This manual is based on Writing Snort Rules by Martin Roesch and further work from Chris Green $<$cmg@snort.org$>$. It was then maintained by Brian Caswell $<$bmc@snort.org$>$ and now is maintained by the Snort Team. If you have a better way to say something or find that something in the documentation is outdated, drop us a line and we will update it. If you would like to submit patches for this document, you can find the latest version of the documentation in L^ATEX format in the most recent source tarball under /doc/snort_manual.tex. Small documentation updates are the easiest way to help out the Snort Project.
